1993 Michael Jackson sexual abuse allegations

The 1993 allegations against the American pop singer Michael Jackson involved claims of sexual abuse made by a 13-year-old boy named Jordan Chandler and his family. The situation garnered significant media attention and legal scrutiny. Jackson denied all accusations, stating that the relationships were innocent and consensual.

In 1994, Jackson settled a civil lawsuit with Jordan Chandler for approximately $23 million,[lower-roman 1] avoiding a criminal trial. No criminal charges were filed against him at that time, and the case was settled out of court.

The allegations remained a controversial and highly debated topic throughout Jackson's life and after his death in 2009. Jackson consistently maintained his innocence, but the case significantly impacted his public image and legacy.
