Alfredo Ramos dos Santos (born 1 January, 1920 - 23 October, 1997), best known as Alfredo II, is a former Brazilian football player. He has played for Brazil national team.[1][2]He played as an attacking midfielder. His versatility allowed him to play as a side midfielder and a striker as well. A quality player, he combined technique and impressive strength. Considered as one of the finest Brazilian football players of all time.
Club career
He developed almost his entire career at Vasco da Gama, except for one year with Flamengo (1949). He received the nickname of "Alfredo II" given that another Alfredo played at Vasco. He won with that club five Carioca Championships (1945, 1947, 1949, 1950 and 1952) and the South American Championship of Champions, considered the precursor of the Copa Libertadores.
International career
Alfredo played in the Brazilian national team from 1944 to 1953, playing 6 matches and scoring 1 goal. He was a participant in two South American championships in 1945 and 1953 where Brazil ended up as runners-up, he was left out to be participated for the 1946 edition and 1949 edition. where the Brazilians took second place, and in one world championship, where Alfredo played only one game in the group stage against Switzerland he scored his first and only goal.
