Diogo José Teixeira da Silva (4 December 1996 – 3 July 2025), commonly known as Diogo Jota, was a Portuguese footballer. He played as a winger for Premier League team Liverpool.

Jota was 28 years old when he and his brother, André Silva, were killed in a car crash in Cernadilla, Spain, on 3 July 2025.[3][4] Their funeral took place in Gondomar on 5 July 2025. Many people from the world of football attended, including Andrew Robertson and Virgil van Dijk, who carried floral tributes into the church.[5] After he died, a book of condolences was open so others could write a private message which would go to the family.

Club

Diogo Jota previously played for Liverpool, before passing away. From 2014-2016, He played for Paços de Ferreira, 2016-2018 was Atlético Madrid. He then went on loan to Porto in 2016-2017, and then went on loan to Wolverhampton Wanderers. He then signed a contract to Wolverhampton for 2018-2020. Then joined Liverpool in 2020, which is now where he remains.
