List of municipalities in Ontario
This is a list of municipalities in Ontario, Canada. Ontario has three types of municipalities: upper-tier, lower-tier, and single-tier. A few lower-tier municipalities can be inside one upper-tier municipality. A single-tier municipality is separate from other municipalities.
A lower-tier or single-tier municipality can be a city, town, village, township, or just a municipality. An upper-tier municipality can be a county, region, or district municipality.
Upper-tier municipalities
Ontario has 30 upper-tier municipalities that include multiple lower-tier municipalities.[1] These upper-tier municipalities include 19 counties, 3 united counties and 8 regional municipalities or regions.[2]>[3]

The 241 lower-tier municipalities include 19 cities, 41 municipalities, 61 towns, 114 townships and 6 villages.[1]
