The South African national cricket team, nicknamed the Proteas, represent South Africa in international cricket. They are administered by Cricket South Africa.

South Africa is a full member of the International Cricket Council (ICC). This means they can play Test matches, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is).

As of 12 September 2025, the South African team has played 475 Test matches, winning 188 (40%), losing 161 (34%) and drawing 126 (27%) of its games.[2] They have also played 692 ODI Matches, winning 419 (60.5%), losing 246 (35.5%), drawing 6 (0.9%) and getting a "No Result" in 21 (3.0%) of its games.[3]

On 28 August 2012 South Africa became the first team to be ranked number 1 in all three formats of the game.

South Africa won the ICC World Test Championship for the first time in 2025.[4][5]
