Vijay Rupani (2 August 1956 – 12 June 2025) was an Indian politician from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He served as the Chief Minister of Gujarat from 7 August 2016 to 11 September 2021. Rupani succeeded Anandiben Patel and was later succeeded by Bhupendra Patel.
Death
Rupani was one of the passengers of Air India Flight 171 that crashed shortly after take-off from Ahmedabad Airport on its way to London Gatwick Airport,[3] on June 12, 2025. He and 240 others on board were killed plus 38 people on the ground on the impact. [4]
