Woody Island, also known as Yongxing Island (永兴岛 or 永興島 or Yǒngxīng Dǎo) and known as Phu Lam Island (Đảo Phú Lâm), is the largest of the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea.[2]
The island is controlled by the People's Republic of China. It is part of the city of Sansha.
Soldiers of the People's Liberation Army are stationed on the island.
The island is also claimed by the Taiwan, Republic of China, and Vietnam.[2]
