Augustus Chaflin French (August 2, 1808 – September 4, 1864) was an American politician who was the ninth governor of the U.S. state of Illinois from 1846 until 1853.
French was born in Hill, New Hampshire, the son of Eunice (Dickerson) and Joseph French.[1][2]
