Braid is a train station in New Westminster, British Columbia. It is located at 20 Spruce Street. It is owned by TransLink and is used by the SkyTrain in the Metro Vancouver area for their Expo Line and their Lougheed branch.
The station was built in 2002 and opened on January 2. When TransLink was building the Millennium Line, they decided to start building new stations with Braid being one of them. TransLink hired the architecture firm Hancock Bruckner Eng & Wright to build the station.[1] The station was originally part of the Millennium Line when the line ran from Waterfront to Braid. On October 22, 2016, the station was made part of the Expo Line after the Millennium Line Evergreen Extension was created and lines were redesigned.[2]
It is an elevated station, featuring two tracks and side platforms. It is preceded by Sapperton towards Waterfront and ends at Lougheed Town Centre towards Production Way–University. In 2024, it was ranked at #14 of the 54 busiest stations in use for the SkyTrain.[3] At the south end is the only entrance for the station.[4]
The station serves as a connection for the 128, 153, 155, 156, 159, 169, and 791 TransLink bus services.[5]
Around the station is Hume Park.
