Up All Night is the first studio album by English-Irish boy band One Direction. It was released in November 18, 2011 in Ireland and the UK,[1] and worldwide in 2012 by Syco Records. Just four months after placing third on the seventh season of The X Factor in December 2010, the group began recording the album in Sweden, the UK, and the US with various writers and producers. The songs are about youth, relationships, heartbreak, and confidence.
The album received mostly positive reviews, with critics praising its catchy pop sound and strong melodies. It debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut album in the UK in 2011. In the US, it entered the Billboard 200 at number one, selling 176,000 copies in its first week. It was a global hit, topping charts in 16 countries. According to the IFPI, it was the third best-selling album worldwide in 2012, with 4.5 million copies sold.[2]
