Shin Yu-na (Korean: 신유나; born December 9, 2003), better known as Yuna, is a South Korean rapper, singer, and dancer. She is a member of the girl group Itzy, which was formed by JYP Entertainment in 2019.
Early life
Yuna was born on December 9, 2003, in Suwon, South Korea. While in middle school, she played floorball in national tournaments for Gyeonggi.[1] In 2016, a JYP Entertainment agent saw her at a music festival and invited her to audition.[2] She graduated from Hanlim Multi Art School.[3]
Career
2017: Before debut
In 2017, Yuna appeared in the first episode of Stray Kids with Yeji, Ryujin, and Chaeryeong, who later became her groupmates.[4] She also appeared with Ryujin in BTS's "Love Yourself" highlight reel.[5]
2019–present: Itzy and solo songs
Yuna started with Itzy in 2019, when they released their first single album, It'z Different, and the song "Dalla Dalla".[6] In 2022, she performed a solo cover of Lee Hyori’s song “U-Go-Girl” at the KBS Song Festival.[7] In 2024, she released a music video for her solo song “Yet, But”.[8]
