Frans Krätzig (born 14 January 2003 in Nuremberg, Germany) is a German football player. He plays for FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Football Bundesliga as defender. [1]
Career
Krätzig began playing football in his hometown at Post SV Nürnberg.[2] Then he played for 1. FC Nürnberg's youth academy from 2012 to 2017. In 2017 he joined FC Bayern Munich's youth academy as an attacking midfielder. In the summer of 2023, Krätzig took part in the preparation of the first team. He was used in test matches on the trip to Asia. There he attracted attention with a goal against Liverpool FC. [3] At the beginning of the 2023/24 season he was in the squad for the first team. He made his Bundesliga debut on 23 September 2023 . He came on as a substitute for Alphonso Davies in the 65th minute in the 7-0 win in the home game against VfL Bochum.
After four Bundesliga games in the first half of the season, he was loaned to the Austrian Bundesliga club FK Austria Wien in February 2024. During the loan he made 14 appearances in the Bundesliga and scored one goal. For the 2024/25 season he was loaned out to runner-up VfB Stuttgart. Under Sebastian Hoeneß he only made one substitution in the Bundesliga until the winter break. During the winter break, the loan was ended early and Krätzig was loaned out to 1. FC Heidenheim from the beginning of January 2025. In June 2025, Krätzig moved to the Austrian Bundesliga club FC Red Bull Salzburg. [4]
International
Krätzig made his debut as a national player in the U20 national team on 7 September 2023 against Italy's U20 national team. He scored his first international goal on 22 March 2024 in in a 3-1 win versus Spain's U20 national team. In August 2024 he was nominated for the U21 national team. [5]
