Jacob Rasmussen (born May 28, 1997 in Odense) is a Danish football player. He currently plays as defender for FC Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga. He is also a former Danish youth international.
Career
Rasmussen joined Odense BK's youth teams in 2012. In 2014 he moved to FC Schalke 04's youth academy. He played for their U19 team in the UEFA Youth League and the U19 Bundesliga. He won the German U19 championship in 2015. In 2016 he moved to FC St. Pauli. He played 17 matches for their second team in the Regionalliga Nord. At the beginning of 2017 he moved to Rosenborg Trondheim. He won the Norwegian championship with Rosenborg twice. Rasmussen also won the national Supercup and the national cup twice with Trondheim.
The Dane spent the 2018/19 season in the Italian Serie A with FC Empoli. He played 14 league games and was relegated to Serie B at the end of the season. AC Fiorentina had signed the defender during the winter break, but kept him on loan at Empoli. In the 2029-20 season he went back to Germany and played for FC Erzgebirge Aue on loan. [1]After the loan ended, Jacob Rasmussen returned to Florence. He then was loaned to Vitesse Arnhem in the Eredivisie. After being part of the Fiorentina squad again in the 2022/23 season, he was loaned back to the Netherlands. He played for Feyenoord Rotterdam. In July 2023 he returned to Denmark and signed a four-year contract with Brøndby IF. [2]
In June 2025 Rasmussen moved to Austrian Bundesliga club FC Red Bull Salzburg in the special transfer window as part of the 2025 Club World Cup. [3]

Rasmussen made nine appearances for the Danish U16 national team, eleven appearances for the U17, one appearance for the U18 national team, ten for the U19 (one goal),four for the U20 and 21 for the U21.
