New Westminster is a train station in New Westminster, British Columbia. It is located at 32 8th Street. It is owned by TransLink and is used by the SkyTrain in the Metro Vancouver area for their Expo Line.

The station was built in 1985 and opened on December 11. Austrian company Architektengruppe U-Bahn built the station so that people were able to move around on transit during Expo 86.[1] New Westminster was the east terminus for the Expo Line when it was created as part of the new extension made for the SkyTrain. It served as the terminus from 1985 until the line was extended in 1989. Another platform was added temporarily to extend platform 1 over the tracks going towards Waterfront. It was removed when the rest of the track was installed.[2] New Westminster station, along with the city of New Westminster, is named after Westminster, a district in London, England.[3]

It is an elevated station, featuring two tracks and side platforms. It is preceded by 22nd Street towards Waterfront and ends at Columbia towards either King George or Production Way–University. In 2024, it was ranked at #10 of the 54 busiest stations in use for the SkyTrain.[4]

In 2012, the Shops at New West shopping mall was merged into and wrapped around the station.[5] In May 2015, TransLink ordered new upgrades for the station. Remodels for the entrances and platforms were made to merge the mall and station. New lighting, ceiling acoustics, glass replacements, and better accessibility were added. Construction finished on November 2016 and cost $12 million.[6]

The station serves as a connection for the 102, 103, 105, 106, 109, 112, 123, 321, and N19 TransLink bus services.[7]

Around the station is the Hyack Square, River Market, Shops at New West, Douglas College, and the Provincial Court of British Columbia.
