Joyce–Collingwood is a train station in Vancouver, British Columbia. It is located at 5099 Joyce Street. It is owned by TransLink and is used by the SkyTrain in the Metro Vancouver area for their Expo Line.
The station was built in 1985 and opened on December 11. Austrian company Architektengruppe U-Bahn built the station so that people were able to move around on transit during Expo 86.[1]
When it opened, the original name for the station was just Joyce. It was named after Joyce street, which in turn, was named after Abraham Joyce, a Carleton Elementary school trustee from 1897 to 1898.[2] In 2001, the official name was changed to Joyce–Collingwood because of the Collingwood Village community where the station is located.
It is an elevated station, featuring two tracks and a centre platform. It is preceded by 29th Avenue towards Waterfront and ends at Patterson towards either King George or Production Way–University. In 2024, it was ranked at #7 of the 54 busiest stations in use for the SkyTrain.[3]
In 2016, TransLink built and upgraded the station, building new entrances, replacing the roofs, metal mesh screens being replaced with glass, and safety improvements.[4] On October 6, 2017, a new stationhouse was opened on the east of the station.[5]
The station serves as a connection for the R4 41st Ave TransLink bus services.[6]
Around the station is the Collingwood Park, Gaston Park, and Melbourne Park.
